As an artists there are few things more enjoyable than watching other artists work, especially those as accomplished as my makeup artist, Norman Bryn. The work he did creating our mummy is nothing short of spectacular. Everyone who worked on this shot, especially our mummy actor, Michael J. Citak, got to experience an aspect of production art that is quickly fading from our industry. CGI is great. I love it. I use it. But nothing, and I mean nothing, beats doing it in camera whenever you can. And yes, for those of you wondering, this took hours to do, and that’s after the hours spent casting on two sessions and the hand carved prosthetic mask Norman made for the project.
